War Strain Review

Happy Sunday Everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend activities and getting ready for some football (like I am). Over the next several reviews I will be reviewing a handful of flavors from Bucks Brands. For the first edition we are going to jump into War which appears to some type of cherry gelato (or similar) pheno. First, looking at the bag there was a lot going on on the cover it. The Bucks Brand emblem is standing in the midst of chaos so I was hoping this would be a potent smoke. As I opened the seal on the Mylar bag, an eruption of cherries and other strong fruity notes filled the air. For anyone who likes anything sweet but more along the lines of a fruit punch this is for you. There was no ignoring that distinct gelato smell when cracking open this one. The buds had that familiar spongy and sticky texture which left many trichomes sticking to your fingers. The bud itself was encompassed through shades of green, purple, orange along with snow white crystals. The more you broke apart this bud the potent cherry gelato smell intensified. I knew right from the jump I was in for a treat as I tend to favor a lot of strains in the gelato/Runtz family. Naturally, not a lot of kief when breaking this up and I personally didn’t think it yielded a considerable amount upon breaking it up (use the 2-turn method). This could have been a result of curing too quickly but I’m not entirely sure. Nonetheless, the bud made for an easy roll but you certainly needed a little more than usual. Overall Rating 8.3/10 Upon sparking this in an Organic RAW, that distinctive cherry taste could immediately be felt from the start. There was sort of a harsh feel about the smoke as each inhale punch through the throat and caused a lot of coughing. You could certainly feel the pressure on this one and I would not recommend this one for the beginners. The joint displayed an almost perfectly white ash and magnificent drips of ooze forming a nice resin ring. Personally, I was a huge fan of the exhale and feel like those most distinguished cherry notes could be sensed during this time of the smoke. There was no question that the highlight of this batch laid within the tastiness of the smoke. If we’re being brutally honest, the high did a lot more justice the actual aesthetics of the flower. I personally wasn’t amazed with the look of it at first but was interested to see if the high would be as overpowering as the smell. The high was quite decent and created a soothing effect that could be felt for about an hour or so after the high. This created a mild couch lock effect throughout the high but nothing too overwhelming. I had the pleasure of having some friends over when smoking this and it really made for a chill and relaxing vibe. Personally, for as rough as some parts of the smoke were I did not find it challenging staying personable when we went out later that night. Of course, I feel like beginners may want to plan an evening in with this one. Overall, a strong debut for Bucks Brand for their initial review and, as mentioned earlier, the first of 5 more for this go round. It was a pleasure meeting Buck for the first time this past week and chopping it up with him. He is one of the many street vendors who is shaking up the game right now and making his presence known throughout New England. It’s safe to say this won’t be our last encounter with big Buck!
