Banana Zikigai (2 grams) (73 – 119u) by Pure Melt x Raw Genetics

👀: The look of this jar wasn’t bad, it had a beige color that had a darker tint to it and a wet, terpy consistency that made it easy to scoop and dab. I’m sure the darker color is just due to genetics.

The jar art was solid. It had a yellow top sticker with the Pure Melt logo and a wraparound label featuring the name, a Project Banana image and other information on the jar. 7.9/10

👃: The smell on this jar was really nice right when I cracked it open, I was hit with an interesting nose. It had a sweet, creamy, fruity tropical banana terp to it, and the terp profile was pretty loud which I always like wasn’t mild at all on the nose. 8.7/10

👅: The taste was nice it started off with a light creamy, slightly sweet tropical banana terp profile that I really enjoyed. However on the backend when dabbed hot it turned a bit harsh so I ended up enjoying it way more at low temps. The flavor but nothing too crazy like I would’ve wanted for a jar like this, I was hoping for a more clean smooth finish.

I also noticed that this strain burned rather dark, definitely more enjoyable at lower temps, where you get a ton of flavor. At hotter temps, it doesn’t handle heat well and can come off pretty harsh. 7.8/10

Overall: This was a really solid jar from Pure Melt. I haven’t had a jar that was single source from Pure Melt only collabs, so it was cool to finally snag some. The reason I got this jar is because I loved the Banana Meltshake 6 I had from West Coast Alchemy a long time ago that was a collab with Pure Melt so I figured paired with zikigai it could only be better but sadly it was not.

It checked most of the boxes for me. The looks were a bit lacking in my opinion, and the taste, while it had an amazing terp profile it was held back by some background noise and the fact that it didn’t handle hotter temps well, which is how a lot of people dab. So that part was a no for me. I also noticed the rosin burned a bit darker than I’m used to, but nothing too crazy. The high was really nice, relaxing and fairly potent, but not something that would knock you out. It felt like a solid daytime strain, and the terp profile made it enjoyable to dab aside from the harshness on the backend.

In the end, it checked all the boxes except two: the burn and the overall smoothness. Flavor-wise, it was great, but it just didn’t dab as clean as I’d like and that’s something I weigh pretty heavily. If it had been smoother, this would’ve been a standout. Still a good jar, but I probably wouldn’t grab this one again. I loved the flavor, but the background noise was enough to keep me from craving another. 8/10
