ILoveGrowingMarijuana.com commits to telling the honest story about their seeds
At MJBizCon 2024, ILoveGrowingMarijuana.com (ILGM) made headlines with their announced merger with Barney’s Farm and Sensi Seeds. In an interview with The Highest Critic, ILGM CEO Ernst Rustenhoven acknowledged that the website does not currently provide enough information on the provenance of their seeds and genetics. What’s more, ILGM committed to relaying accurate information about what they’re selling. The honest story – so consumers really know what they’re buying.
ILoveGrowingMarijuana.com to credit original breeders of seeds they sell
During our interview, I asked “why doesn’t ILGM list the original breeder of the seeds that it sells?” To which Ernst stated he didn’t know why, but he was open to changing it. I asked if ILGM would commit to providing that information.
Ernst replied:
“Yeah, I personally feel that we should do that. Yeah, definitely. And so I think that if you look to the old ILGM, one of the switches that we’re really making is really telling the honest story about our seeds.
He continued:
“So you will probably see it when our new platform comes live with the whole new rebrand. It will have different messaging. It will have more, I think, stories to tell. I mean, more honoring the heritage of the strains that we offer. So it’s definitely a change that I think that we are currently already making.”
ILGM, despite being split personnel wise between US based and Amsterdam based employees, only sells into the United States market. ILGM has always targeted the beginner grower, and they hope that with their expansion, they can reach out to the intermediate or expert grower with interesting genetic offerings, too.
Ernst admitted:
“I mean the honest story here is that we are best suitable for beginner and intermediate growers. That’s also what we really communicate to all our customers. If you want to start growing, we are your go-to place. We have all the resources, we have all the content, lowering the barrier for people who aspire to grow, that is our mission. If you are an expert grower and you have a very developed taste, I mean I hope that we can bring the products for those growers that get them excited. But I also acknowledge that there are places where they can probably better find the exact specific thing that they are looking for.”
Ernst and co. hope that with more accurate information – ILGM will become an attractive source of seeds to more than just first time growers that don’t yet have a breeder they’d rather interact with directly. There’s no chance of that happening if ILGM doesn’t follow through on their promise to credit and honor the original breeders of the cultivars they claim to sell.
