Not having reviewed a Doja flower in a while, I thought I’d see if there has been any improvements over the last year and see how this release of Grape Mochi fared. With the branding focusing on simple but sleek packaging. Upon opening I was instantly greeted by a pungent Gelato dominant earthiness displaying an infusion of hazelnuts, chemical and cream with menthol and floral undertones.
Smelling reminiscent to a Gelato influenced rendition of Purple Dino as a reference. Fortunately, not displaying any notes of grapes as expected. The buds were of a medium to hard density and had a hybrid structure. They were a shade of light and medium green with minimal hues of purple, coated in a thick layer of almost white trichomes, alongside minimal rustic pistils. Upon inhaling my palate was overcome by notes translating from the smell, delivering a pungent Gelato earthiness with traits of hazelnut, chemicals and cream, alongside floral and very faint sourly sweet grape undertones.
The taste of this mildly sweet Gelato earthiness was retained on my tastebuds upon exhaling. The joint produced ash being a shade of medium to light grey, alongside an instantaneous oozing and leaking resinous oil ring. It smoked both smooth and tasted clean. To conclude, although not resulting in anything too memorable I overall found Grape Mochi to deliver its Mochi Gelato genetics effectively, fortunately (for me) not displaying hugely noticeable grape traits. It smoked relatively well, ticking some boxes and with further dialling overall, can cater to enthusiasts of Gelato dominant strains.
