This is the third strain Iβve tried from Malibu after The Shodan and Ancient Magickz, both of which were absolute heat. If youβre not familiar, Malibu theyβre a small-batch, living soil brand out of California whoβs been consistently killing it. The genetics for this one come from SD Cookie Jar, another California based brand and the creator of the popular strain βDunkaRoos,β which is still on my list to try.
The jar of Bakerβs Dozen I picked up had just four nugs, two monster nugs that looked like mini pinecones and easily weighed around 3g each, plus two smaller ones rounding out the quarter. Visually, the flower looked nice with green buds covered in trichomes with orange hairs scattered throughout. The structure was super dense and compact, though this batch leaned a bit drier than the others Iβve had from Malibu. However once broken down, it had more life to it and wasnβt really dry at all. The aroma was alright, not super loud but itΒ got louder once you cracked a nug open. Think earthy sweet with a soft gassy backend. I was kinda expecting a more dessert-forward nose from something named βBakerβs Dozenβ maybe a creamy sugary vibe but this leaned more subtle. Taste-wise, this one off rip gave more of aΒ Wedding Cake vibe than anything cookie related. It kept that earthy sweet gas profile with a mild pastry twist, but the terps didnβt quite scream like the jars of Shodan or Ancient Magickz did. The taste was clean and pleasant, just not a standout for me personally, unless youβre still big on that Wedding Cake. What really impressed me was how it burned, it blew down real nice, keeping most of its flavor all the way down till the end and had clean white ash with a bit of pepper throughout, and a thick resin ring that was just dumping resin. The high hit hard, making me feel super stoney, heavy behind the eyes, and very relaxed. Definitely a nice wind down strain, great for nighttime or kicking back after a long day.
Malibu did a great job working with SD Cookie Jar genetics. Even though this one isnβt really one of my go to terp profile, I still appreciated it. I know that Drew Is Sharing says this is the best flower heβs smoked of 2025 and no hate towards him but I just donβt see it The Shodan and Ancient Magickz outsmoke this one easily taste wise but then again it is all preference and opinion. The clean burn and smooth smoke definitely made it worth the try. I personally just wouldnβt grab this one back just because I crave more terpy flower and this one was kind of terpless to me personally but if youβre a Wedding Cake fan, youβll more than likely love it. Anyways if you havenβt tried Malibu yet youβre sleeping, even though this jar wasnβt my favorite it was still clean and smoked good and Iβd recommend it.
