melano by raree exotics strain review by cannoisseurselections

Next to review from Rare Exotics is their Melano, consisting of an exciting cross between two exotic powerhouses; The First Z and Lemon Tree. With the branding referencing the exotic fruit better known as Kiwano, a half bred kiwi horned melon.

Upon opening I was instantly greeted by an exotic mouthwatering rush of zesty citrus oranges, tangerines, lemons and grapefruit alongside a light peppery earthiness with hints of rubber and melon. The buds were of a medium to hard density and had a hybrid structure. They were a shade of medium green with hues of dark purple, alongside thick, messy rustic pistils and showered in glistening trichomes. Upon inhaling my palate was instantly overcome by notes translating from the smell, delivering an exotic zesty and citrus infusion of oranges, tangerines and melons, accompanied by undertones of sour grapefruit, faint rubber and a spicy fragrant and pepper backend. The taste of this exotic citrus medley was retained on my tastebuds upon exhaling with a slight earthiness remaining.

The joint produced ash being a shade of light grey, alongside an instantaneous leaking and oozing resinous oil ring. It smoked both smooth and tasted clean. To conclude, with a little curing I overall found Melano to deliver a unique tangy, exotic citrus infusion from its flavourful genetics, ultimately leaning towards an orange profile not being to everyone’s preference. Despite this, it smoked pleasantly well, ticking most boxes and with a little further dialling in, primarily on its smoothness and spicy backend, can only be further improved and remain a distinctive staple of Rare Exotic’s lineup. A new pheno; #18, has just been released leaning towards a more lemon profile so this will be interesting to review next.
