Ah it’s that magical time of year, the days are getting shorter, the leaves are changing, a subtle chill has entered the air…okay so whether your weather is accurately reflecting the season or not it’s fall baby. Now that the calendar says October, it’s time to bring in the last of the crops, chop the trees, and begin to prepare ourselves for the inevitable rise of winter.
As the Terprat perused the produce at their local farm, a glistening of purple caught their eye in the seas of reds, oranges, and yellows. Thinking it was a free eggplant, the rat worked quickly and snagged their prize before anyone else could fight them for it. However, upon a closer inspection, the harvest was much more bountiful than initial expectations let on. It was Papaya Juice from Liberty Hash! At this time of year? At this time of day? Localized entirely inside my jar. I had to see it, smell it, taste it. Move over pumpkin spice, Papaya Juice from Liberty Hash is the new must have fall flavor.
The Aroma
Upon first crack, the aroma of papaya and funk wafts out of the jar barreling for your noise at a 100mph. The smell hits you in layers, delivering fruity, tropical goodness that has gotten just head-over-heels in some gassy, garlicky funk. The fruit notes hit you first with intense tropical aromas of papaya, guava, and mango leading the charge. As the dust settles from the first sniff, a new wave of gassy garlic funk takes the lead and presents a beautiful expression of the terps from the GMO half of its lineage. Mixing with the lingering sweet fruit notes, the competing halves of the whole create a new cacophony of smells representing the best sums of their parts.
The Appearance
Once fully opened, you can now start to understand just how special this jar really is. An off-white pool of creamy, smooth rosin meets the eye at first look. Puddles of terps weep up and fill the voids that litter the surface with delicious, wonderful flavor. The cream colored rosin is soft, yet workable, easily scooped by a dab tool in a gooey mound of hashy delight. On a bright fall day like today the rosin subtlety glows from the rays of the sun, refracting and reflecting light. With a fat dab loaded on a piece of corn straw I lit the torch I found in the barn and got to work.
The Taste and High
With the temperature perfect and the barn cats nowhere to be seen, a rat can never be too careful, it was dabbing time. Running the special fall harvest up and down the banger, the off-white cream color gives way to streaks of golden amber liquid. As the pillar inside picks up speed the melted hash spirals the length of the banger exposing all of its surface area to the precious liquid. The first pull is smooth, flavorful, and heady. The fruity notes take prime position on the palate, hints of the tropics chasing each other while working in harmony nonetheless.
As the hit continues on and the other flavors come out you are left with tastes of diesel fuel, onion, and garlic. The funk rises in the nose and creates an intense, but enjoyable back end. The high comes on quickly with a heady rush and tightness between the eyes. Exhaling the dab leaves notes of rotten fruit and gas clinging to the tongue in a lip smacking way. The first hit begets the second, which begets the third and next thing you know you’re milking the hit more than a dairy cow.
Liberty Hash once again knocked it out of the park with flavorful, high quality, affordable hash rosin that means business. When the weather ever cools and fall fully arrives in force this is the jar the Terprat will have with them around the fire, infused hot coco in hand, for sure
