How long can you store cannabis?

Experts suggest that cannabis is best when aged in a cool, dark place. Too much heat can dry out the cannabinoids and terpenes, resulting in a harsher smoke. Lower temperatures also help to slow the process of decarboxylation, and slows the degradation of THC to CBN. An environment with proper humidity control is also helpful in keeping away mildew or other mold contaminants. It recommended that you keep humidity levels between 59% and 63%. Keeping your cannabis away from UV rays helps prevent the breakdown of organic materials. Keeping it sealed in a container with just the right amount of air flow is also critical for balancing humidity. Having too little air can make it overly humid, and too much air will speed up degradation. High Times magazine laid out a basic timeline for weed freshness: after one year, weed can lose roughly 16% of its THC. Two years = 26% Three years = 34% And 4 years= 41% loss in THC!
