Can cannabis cure a hangover?

This was me two weeks ago. I subjected myself to a night of tequila and vodka, all in the name of cannabis “research”! I wanted to document how cannabis might help me deal with the symptoms of a hangover. 🌿🤮 Let’s talk about the science behind it, and what I discovered!

So… Can cannabis cure a hangover?

1. Nausea and vomiting. Both are a shitty side effect of having one too many. 🥂 Cannabis is considered an anti-emetic drug, meaning it has been used to treat these symptoms! Cannabinoids found in weed, help by suppressing the emetic activity near the brain stem to ease symptoms of nausea. Also, in animal studies, there is evidence that cannabinoids reduce the force of vomiting in cats, pigeons, ferrets, and shrews. 2. Headaches. Another fun reminder of a night of drinking. You may be surprised to learn that our natural serotonin levels have a role to play here! Seratonin is a double edged sword when to comes to treating headaches and migraines. It can either help to eliminate them, or make it worse. The cannabinoids found within cannabis plants can interact directly with our serotonergic system, helping bring a balance to upset neurons and helping with headache alleviation! As for my personal experience, cannabis definitely had a part in helping me get through the day. I created a salad of CBD rich flower along with my favorite strains in my bowl, which definitely helped me with the morning headache. I did also notice that vomiting was much less intense. So overall, I’d definitely recommend keeping some leafy greens nearby if you’re going to drink!
