The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is like an opinion, everybody has one! Even non human animals have them! The ECS is a system within all mammals that is involved in many important functions, including initiating physiological and psychological changes in our bodies.

So… What is the endocannabinoid system (ECS)?

Even at the very beginning of life, the ECS determines if a fertalized egg will become a baby. What does this have to do with cannabis? Think of it this way: your ECS is a key hole, and cannabis, is the key that can unlock it. Our ECS contains a multitude of receptors, with the CB1 and CB2 being the most dominant. These receptors interact with and regulate parts of the body, from your brain and spinal cord, down to your digestive tract and genitals. The cb1 and 2 receptors can be activated or enhanced in 3 ways: the release of your own cannabinoids, by manufactured cannabinoids, or through the introduction of plant based cannabinoids, aka, smoking a joint! Perhaps one of the most astounding capabilities of cannabis, is that it can relax and stimulate our nervous system at the same time, through these receptors.
