Dab Review: Strawguava Rosin by Brown Bag Seeds
When you have the privilege of trying several consecutive batches of the same strain from a grower/hashmaker, particularly one like @brownbagseeds, you get to be a passenger on the journey the cultivator and cultivar take together and appreciate subtleties that you may not have time to dissect in a single jar. Though his original breeds like Love Park and Triangle Market perform strongly in flower and rosin, the uber-fruity Harry Palms genetic Strawguava has found a home of its own in Brown Bag’s hash roster.

I enjoyed five grams of Strawguava (SG) melt over the course of about eight months, always on Sundays only, flying the final flag on 7/10 for the ultimate solventless salute. As the hash matured in the freezer, the juicy candy flavor of tropical Starburst slowly gave way to darker sangria-like notes but never fully disappeared. An undercurrent of doughy fuel was ever present which added a satiating body to the predominantly sweet profile. Dabbing SG in the morning set a positive tone for the day and gave me an impenetrable, self-assured aura.
As divine as the melt was, experiencing SG rosin mixed in various ratios with other strains revealed its true complementary range. Melded with Brown Bag original breed Love Park, SG’s bright, sherbet-like taste was intensified, while the addition of @organimelts_ Lemon Cane brought out some cream cheese funk that reminded me I was still inhaling cannabis, not runoff from the Wonka factory. SG also balanced out a deliberately gassy blend featuring GG4, Sour Diesel and Drunken Strawberries with distinct wild strawberry notes in the taste and smell, especially in it’s fresh-pressed form.
Can’t wait to see what ye olde prince of paper goods cranks out of his lab of dreams next, but I sure hope SG is involved!
