Strain Review: Bazquiat (LA Pop Rocks) by The Association

Not having heard or had any of Association’s flowers before, I was excited to be able to try their rendition of this interesting cross of strains. Upon opening I instantly received a rush of an enticingly sweet and refreshing zesty gas, exhibiting traits of its Lemon distant lineage with an exotic twist. Notes of extremely sharp grapefruit flourished, complemented by pungent blueberry and dragonfruit overtones, derived from its Animal Mints lineage. This exotic medley was infused with a floral scent, consisting of apples and grapes, with traits reminiscent of liquorice. The buds were of a mixed density, having both a combined boulder and predominantly foxtail structure, being a shade of light green, with sporadic purple hues, alongside messy rustic hydroponic hairs, and covered by a sea of trichomes. Upon inhaling my palate was instantly overcome by invigorating notes consisting of sweetly subdued blueberries and apples, infused with sourly citrus and zesty notes of grapefruit. Through combustion a Kush influenced gas with floral traits, begins to dominate, developing a sweet and light grape backend. This complex and pleasantly unique infusion described is retained on my tastebuds upon exhaling. The joint produced ash being a shade of white to very light silver, alongside an instantaneous leaking and oozing resinous oil ring, smoking relatively smooth and tasting clean. To conclude, although I’m not a huge enthusiast of this strain personally, I could appreciate the overall smoke and flavour, which delivers an exotic infusion of sweet zesty notes gently complementing the commonly dominant Kush taste well. With some further dialling in required, Bazquiat will be a great selection on Association’s lineup as something different.
