From hearing great things about the strain Coffin Candy in general, I was interested to try out Sumer’s rendition of it, arriving as a “members only small batch drop” in a 14 gram glass jar. Upon opening I instantly received a rush of an extremely inviting candy aroma. Amongst the common notes of cherries, a very notable sweet blend of dominant strawberries and red grapes flourished, with cranberry, blackcurrant and light grapefruit undertones. This enticing sweetness is complemented by a floral and gentle Gelato gas, delivering a sweet bubblegum candy aroma. The buds were of a medium to hard density, having a foxtail structure, being a shade of golden medium green with sporadic light purple hues, alongside light rustic pistils and home to a universe of trichomes. Upon inhaling, my palate was greeted by subdued notes of candy, accompanied by a resinous Gelato gas. Although sweet notes of strawberries, grape and cherries were present, they did not manage to flourish as strongly as anticipated from the smell, and instead lingered behind a gentle gas. Through combustion, the sweetness started to dissipate, resulting in the overall taste not being particularly striking. The joint produced ash being a shade of medium silver, alongside an instantaneous oozing resinous oil ring, smoking both partially smooth and tasting clean. To conclude, for my first time trying Sumer’s Coffin Candy, I unfortunately found the sweetness not managing to translate from the smell as eagerly anticipated, rendering the taste slightly lustreless, alongside a partial harshness. Hopefully some further dialling in can be achieved for Sumer to get their Coffin Candy standing out from the rest.
