Bacio Punch #8 Cannabis Cultivar (Strain) Review

Ogen’s at it again! They’ve gained something of a cult following for putting out an ever growing library of genetics, selected for unique strain specific characteristics and flavors. They prioritize terps while managing to test high in THC. And with an often frustrating focus on small-batch they are frequently sold out, but when you do get some it’s always fresh and sticky. Bacio Punch upholds everything we love about them. Pop the Calyx top and you’ll smell a deep cherry like an old timey black cherry pop. When smoking the full bouquet really shines. There is a strong red wine top note with herbal undertones, all while not losing a sweetness that lingers at the back of the pallette. It’s delicious and definitely one to try for flavor chasers. The overall bag appeal is mixed. The smell is divine. And it has a thick layer of trichomes. Also its fresh as can be leaving my fingers sticky and grinder gunked. However it is not quite dense enough leading to some issues. There was shake at the bottom of the container, less than most value bud but more than the mid-tier warrants. Similarly the number of popcorn nugs was more than usual. The trim was also lacking as they missed a number of sugar leaves.. though maybe production issues are to be expected with their recent press. Thankfully the high here saves it, and again plays into what Ogen does best with very strain specific aspects. Like most of the cherry trend the bud’s cerebral punch is on the lighter side, considering my bottle tested at 26% THC. There is no real uplift, but a gentle waviness throughout, without a crash. It is the perfect psychedelic bud for music or to trip out to some Rick n Morty. The body effects are stronger, letting you shake off the long day and stretch out. Overall Ogen’s Bacio Punch is a unique answer to the cherry trend. Adding their own spin to the taste, they have stayed largely true to the unique effects of these genetics. A pinner would be perfect to vibe out in the bath while a fattie was perfect for a yearly rewatch of Waking Life. But again, the taste is what sets this one apart.
