With this being the first Tenco “sample only, not for sale” jar I have personally acquired, I was interested to see how it fared to their previous releases. Upon opening I instantly received a very unique aroma, primarily displaying musky notes infused with fuel, sherbet, menthol and cream.
A subdued light candy essence gently complemented this strong gas, introducing a satisfying level of sweet cherries alongside refreshing notes of citrus. The buds were of a medium density and hybrid structure. They were a shade of dark to medium green underneath a layer of dark purple, alongside minimal rustic pistils and absolutely showered in trichomes.
Upon inhaling, my palate was instantly overcome by notes translating from the smell, delivering a dominant musky and earthy Sherbet influenced gas with traits of menthol, cream and fuel, complemented by notes of sour lemon and lightly sweetened candy, displaying notes of cherries and very faint strawberries. The taste of this musky creamy and mildy sweet gas was retained on my tastebuds upon exhaling.
The joint produced ash being a shade of medium to light grey, alongside an instantaneous oozing resinous oil ring. It smoked both smooth and tasted clean.
To conclude, I ultimately found the genetics of Black Cod to complement each other well, with the Sherbet lineage remaining more dominant, tasting almost reminiscent of Grandi Flora’s Grandi Candi as a reference.
Black Cod delivered a unique taste none the less and smoked pleasantly well. With some further dialling in required, Black Cod will easily remain a distinctive staple of Tenco’s ever expanding lineup.
