Preferred Gardens Oreoz Cannabis Cultivar (Strain) Review
PREFACE: This was picked up at the one year anniversary celebration of the outpost dispensary in Santa Rosa, a massive event that was one for the books. Before we get into it the reason I decided to write this review was to highlight a team and company which I think is under the spotlight across the whole state but has been holding Sac and central california down for a minute: Preferred Gardens.
COMPANY INFO: Founded by David Polley, Preferred gardens started out in the prop 215 days over 15 years ago before coming to the rec side of the market at a date I couldn’t quite find out. Regardless, their transition was marked by the arrival of superb mixed light flower to the rec market, first brought to my attention by a jimi Devine ig livestream proclaiming the preferred gardens apple and bananas strain to be the best rendition he’d tried. On doing more research on the company and visiting sac and getting to try their flower, I was blown away by the quality of product being put out at prices beating the traditional market. With their new indoor facilities up and running, multi state operations soon coming online in Florida and potentially a few other states, and their partnered delivery service in Sac called Fiori delivery, Preferred gardens was a company I really didn’t become hip to until moving up to nor cal and specifically visiting the city of trees.
VISUALS :9/10
Oreoz has always been a Visually appealing strain and this is no different with what seems like 3 layers of color starting with a base canvas of light green then splashed with a cornucopia of purple tints and finally rolled around in some dusty appearing trichomes with heads so pronounced they stuck to the side of the Mylar and gave it a sparkly appearance under light. Tight knitted amber pistils knitted onto the surface of the nugs combined with a proper cure that added some stickiness to the buds.
SMELL: 7/10
A musty slightly earthy fresh smell that reminded me of the the way hot cocoa powder would smell without that sugary nose, an almost dark chocolate type of scent like what I would envision freshly ground cacao to smell of.
TASTE & EFFECTS:7.5/10
A smooth clean smoke with white ash with intermediate body and mind effects, I found the taste to transfer over to the joint with hints of earthiness and that cacao coming through, it wasn’t all the way sweet but it wasn’t all the way savory either, the flavor was in between and carried with it a fluid body high that left the mind feeling light and functional yet the body feeling the majority of physical effects. This was pleasant anytime smoke that at the price point preferred gardens runs for any of its mylars ( the same prices regardless of strain ) I would get again in a heartbeat.
