Strain Review: Amnesia Haze by LowKey by MTL

This product had me super skeptical. MTL departed from their single strain model with this past year’s Cookies N Cream drop. The quality is great now, but it took a while for them to dial in the production, with the first couple lots looking like hay, being too dry for the loose bud structure. But then the reviews for this started coming out, and they looked nothing like that. If anything they looked even better than Sage N Sour, the strain MTL gained their rep on, with this being naturally denser. Shortly after, I met their master grower, @patrickpage.93, and grilled him a little bit on what the LowKey label really means. He assured me these bags have all the grow and production standards of normal MTL, they are just testing out the waters at the lower price point. And after seeing the bud in person and smoking a bunch, I actually believe him
Amnesia Haze is an old school strain that offered flavor before the days of Cherry and Cake. It uses a combo of landraces to deliver a stoney high with even energy throughout. Stoney is the key word, because the high from most cuts belongs in a hash den or dimly lit wine bar. It slows the mind to the point of incapacitation but has very little crash. MTL’s cut departs a bit. The stoniness is there but not quite at the level of most cuts. In its place is more energy, with it actually giving a bit of a boost. Instead of the wine bar, it’s more suited to the club. Enough energy to dance with enough disassociation so anxiety doesn’t keep me seated
Now the taste. Like I said Amnesia is tasty but decidedly old school. Instead of the candy or fruity type flavors that are more popular with breeders today, this has a complex floral aroma. You smell the brighter terps on top giving it that initial sweetness but the caryophyllene turns it into a floral perfume both in the smell and taste. Like an old lady going to the opera, or a long brewed lavender tea
Overall, this is an amazing deal right now. As long as MTL continues these standards this is one of the best deals in town. I really hope LowKey drops half ounces soon, the market needs some larger bags of quality for this midtier price 🈹🈹🈹🔋🤤
