The Soap Strain Review
What’s up everyone! Happy Tuesday and I hope everyone is settling into the week and not panicking too much over the fact that we only have under 2 weeks to prepare for Christmas. Yikes! Anyways, I do have another review for you all and this is the second installment in the Cookies series that was voted for a couple weeks back. Today I will be covering The Soap by The Minntz. For those of you who do not know The Minntz is a product line that was launched as the result from the partnership formed between Seed Junky JBeezy and Cookies Enterprises in early 2020. Some notable strains he has put out with that name include: EmergenC, Jealousy, Big Apple, and Christmas Tree. Personally, I have had the chance to try about 8 different flavors since Cookies inception at Commcan in April. With that being said, The Soap is usually the one that separates itself from the average and is, what I would call, the most dialed in strain they have on their shelves at the moment. I’ve learned to not get my hopes too high with Cookies recently but I was excited to see what this batch had in store. Let’s waste no more time and get into the facts. The packaging on most products (if not all) from The Minntz have a distinct mint green color with sleek artwork. This is the case with the packaging for the Soap and I felt that the bubbles that make up the lettering gave the Mylar bag a creative touch. Personally, I like the simplicity of a lot of their packaging designs and, ultimately, believe it gives me more of a desire to see what’s inside of it. The high wasn’t a let down by any stretch of the imagination. Similar to past experiences, The Soap led to a very uplifting and energetic high. To no surprise, I tended to enjoy this during the day time, especially before workouts and running. I also, found myself creeping out throughout the day for nature walks on some of the nicer days we’ve been having this past week. Not only was this a potent Sativa-dominated high, it was fairly long-lasting. I felt the boost provided from this for well over 1.5 hours. Contrary to past experiences, I didn’t feel as relaxed and cooled off as I previously have when smoking The Soap. I would say this was more of a racier high but, in all honesty, I do tend to favor these every now and then when I have more on my plate than usual. The high of this certainly aided the craziness during certain points the past week. The comedown was smooth and almost non-existent. Overall, I thought the high certainly saved the mediocre smoke that the The Soap provided on this particular batch. Although I was ultimately disappointed with this offering of The Soap, I do feel like this is an easy sell to Sativa-preferred smokers. The energy along with the upbeat high you receive from smoking this strain is a perfect match for those who are not looking to get completely bogged down after the sesh. I also feel that this could appeal to a lot of beginning and intermediate level smokers given the fact that the high isn’t daunting by any stretch of the imagination (even with a better batch). However, I just don’t see myself going out, or recommending anyone else for that matter, to purchase an overpriced eighth when half the nugs aren’t even fresh. Additionally, I feel that the cultivation on the genetics could be a little more up to snuff. This is not an attack on anyone directly but, as mentioned my last review, a lot of my experience with Cookies has been varied. Personally, I feel like if you are going to charge premium price for a product you need to deliver premium quality every time without exception. I will be concluding this three-part Cookies series with the Doggy Bag on Sunday so please stay tuned! When I sparked The Soap in an Organic RAW, I was hit with lighter terps of sweetness, floral, and some touches of mint similar to what I was getting through the dry pull. The sweetness was similar to the nose as I sensed a cake-batter-like-taste within the first 5 to 10 pulls. The floral taste, similar to the Gary Payton, dominated the inhale on the Soap. On the way out, that sweet taste remained but with more of a mustier finish than what was found during inhalation. The pulls themselves, for the most part, were smooth and moderately gassy. In turn, this lead to some coughing and a little bit of build up in the chest. One thing I did notice which was absent from this sesh was the mouth-washing effect I typically have received when smoking The Soap before. Typically, I have experienced a tingly feeling on my tongue and on the surface of my mouth in the past while smoking this strain. However, this was not the case while sheshing with this batch. The pulls became a little mintier towards the middle of the sesh and the musty sweet taste on the exhale became richer as well. Additionally, the hits were notably the strongest around this point in the sesh. I did notice a little bit of flavors loss towards the end but nothing outrageous. For the most part, The Soap produced an OK burn which resulted in a lighter grey ash (some shades of but inconsistent). This was supported by an average res ring that really didn’t have too much drip on it. Although I always seem to enjoy the taste and smokability on The Soap, however, I will be honest when I say that I’ve had better batches than this in the past. When I opened the seal on The Soap I was met with a moderately gassy aroma which was accompanied by heavy floral scents as well as a touch of sweetness. Contrary to past experiences smoking The Soap, this didn’t have much of mint scent but still gave off a fairly pungent nose. Even though I wasn’t really able to dial in on it, I smelt almost a faint vanilla cake odor within this one which I found among the sweetness. Looking into the bag was aesthetically convincing that this was going to be a hit. The nugs themselves were a little on the drier side but not nearly as in bad condition that the Gary Payton ones were. Overall, some nugs were drier and others were a lot more healthy which I found a bit odd. Again, as mentioned in the last post, I really think should be unacceptable that any product from a dispensary would be served dry. Even more so being a “premium-quality” brand such as Cookies. The Soap was dominanted by light green hues with a healthy amount purp and darker-orange pistols dispersed throughout. Additionally, there was a considerable amount of triches that stood out which became very noticeable once under a light or magnifying jar. The yield upon breaking up was fair, although disappointment laid within some of those drier Nugs that just crumbled between my fingertips. Once broken down, the gassiness within the nose became more amplified but, still, this smell wasn’t too overpowering. Considering the yield wasn’t spectacular, a little more bud was needed than normal to fill the joint out. The dry pull on this one had a mixture of sweetness, floral and mint within it and I was ready to fire it up.Check out more reviews by @toptierterpsma on Instagram! (www.instagram.com/toptierterpsma)
