Birdlato Strain Review

It was an absolute treat to be able to meet up with local grower BirdHouseGenetics and pick up some of his signature flower. Grown from a Lemon Cherry Gelato bagseed, the quality of these buds are top notch and easily some of the best I’ve seen cultivated locally. My eighth arrived in sealed white BirdHouseGenetics jar containing one giant bud cluster weighing in at just over 3.5. In the age of prepackaged buds trimmed to fit in bags, this was a refreshing sight to behold. Off the stem, my eighth split two smaller buds and the pictured, larger cola. Structurally, the strain possesses tightly packed, dense bud clumpings, wispy pistils, and a resinous trichome coverage. Firm, mildly sticky with a flakey fluffy texture on the hand grind. A complexion of darker ocean and stone blue greens flanked by olive greens and chartreuse off-yellow, topped off by those vanilla colored trichomes complete Birdlato’s decadent, dessert like appearance. If you hadn’t been told beforehand, one whiff of Birdlato would immediately tell you this is a Lemon Cherry Gelato. The nose is 100% on point — gassy lemon cleaner, sour citrus candy notes, with hints of floral, menthol and evergreen. Super fragrant, super pleasant. Upon smoking, the first flavor to meet my lips is a malty, tart cherry diesel followed by a hashy sherbet and a woody + piney, subtly cakey exhale. In comparison to other LCG cuts I’ve had, Birdlato isn’t as sweet, but seems to amplify some key additional terps which make this an undeniably tasty smoke. In an effort to not re-describe the LCG high in depth, I found Birdlato specifically to be quite potent, bringing on a instantaneous stoney head change, sense of a gripping cerebral pressure and mood improvement. Physically heavy but not super sedating, Birdlato has been my go to for some serious end of the day relaxation.
