Strain Review: Chocolate Orange by Kush Rush Exotics

Today we take a look at Chocolate Orange (Genetics Unknown) by Kush Rush Exotics, gifted by @24k_exotics
The gift I received contained a number of smaller to medium sized buds, often boasting a pine cone shape and steep peaks. Pictured here was the largest mug of the group. Chocolate Orange possesses more of a flakey texture (than say sticky) with delicate buds and a sugar donut-esque, powdery like trichome coverage. The color pallet on this strain was equally remarkable. Across the eighth, each nug had a seemingly equal marble of a darker, hunter green, and deep eggplant purples, flanked by mahogany pistils.
Cracking open the mylar, first whiffs of Chocolate Orange give off a sharp, earthy-sweet and fresh orange nose with a zing of pine. Transitioning to the smoke, I was blown away by how that nose translated to flavor. Most notably, the citrus terps in this Chocolate Orange were so clear throughout both inhale and exhale, but perhaps less sweet than I would have anticipated. Additionally, I notice an earthy-cookie flavor similar to the nose, and a mint/pine exhale which is reminiscent of a weak menthol. Easily one of the more unique flavors I’ve tried in 2020.
Chocolate Orange’s early effects seem to suggest more a hybrid/sativa like effect, slowly transition into more of a classic couch lock. Cerebral effects are surprisingly clear headed, but this is undeniably a mood lifting, blissful experience. However, after a few hours or with continued usage, Chocolate Orange takes a turn courtesy of what I would assume to be heavy levels of myrcene (the couch lock terpene). Limbs become pleasurably heavy yet loose as physical motivation begins to drain away.
